Organisms Attacking a Leaf in a Pond

I started a biome by dropping a leaf in a puddle of water in the garden. Here you can see early invasions by very small protists. Obviously the living leaf shape is clearly distorted and reduced even a few days after the leaf was pulled. There are lots of small organisms floating slightly above the surface of the leaf, but some very small organisms penetrate further.
