Mature and Older Biomes

Postby Don Schaeffer » Sun Dec 08, 2024 2:19 pm

Because I live in a cold climate where freezing takes place in very early Fall, most of what I look at nowadays comes from jars of stagnant water I originally took from river water or puddles. At the beginning of the Fall season, I am often still looking at Summer microbes, By now, most of the more spectacular protists have died out. What is left are smaller protists and bacteria. In some biomes the protists are gone completely. Bacteria and smaller organisms replace them. The images here are typical of late indoor microbes.
