This is my naive view of things. The cell is called the basic structure for both what we call animals and plants. But there are such differences between these two classes of organisms that it's hard to categorize them together. I spend most of my time looking at what we call animal cells (as well as bacteria and other organisms that are hard to place in a category). Plants are very different. You can see those big differences when you examine the calls of the leaf of a typical plant.
