Life Without Motion

By my usual standards, this foray into the microbe darkness would be considered failure. In the three stagnant water samples I drew from the mudpuddle I did not see a single ciliate (which is my usual gage of success). But I did see some strange stuff. There were lots of bacteria. There were lots of strange circular things that look like they had something to do with life. And in the end I saw some complex entities that looked like some kind organic objects but did not move or show the usual animate signs.
