An Unbalanced Biome

I went to the mud puddle and tried to select a sample that would contain a balanced representation of the life in the population. I seem not to have succeeded too well, or at least the larger protest, that we like to see, were not anchored well enough to be studied. The smaller organisms, the bacteria and flagellates were active. The bacteria were massed together suggesting unbalanced conditions. This ecological mess made interesting viewing in its own way.
