Teeming Salt Water Biome

The water sample and odd pieces of flotsam and biofilm
have been sitting in a liter-sized sealed jar for close
to a year. Whenever I open the jar to examine the contents,
I find a wide variety of life that I don't find in the
freshwater samples I have. The origins of these life forms
is a mystery. This is a fascinating, diverse culture
that seems to regenerate spontaneously.
