Microbes Get Smaller as the Biome Gets Older

Postby Don Schaeffer » Sat Jan 04, 2025 11:32 am

This biome is in a large glass jar. I have been holding it for several months. At first I saw the larger microbes and some microanimals in this culture. Gradually as the biome aged, the larger and more comlex organisms disappeared and smaller microbes and bacteria replaced them. The development of microbe populations in a culture like this seems to go from larger and more developed to smaller and simpler. It's the simpler organisms that seem to build biofilms and cultures.
