Water Column Top vs Bottom

Postby Don Schaeffer » Thu Dec 12, 2024 12:10 pm

I look at the population of microbes at the bottom of the water column compared with those living at the top of the water column. There is a slight difference (well the water column is not that tall). The larger proportion of organisms is at the top of the water column. To some extent when the organisms sink to the bottom of the water column, the population appears to decrease in number. The piece of fruit which started the biome a few weeks ago has sunk to the bottom of the jar which seems to be the opposite of what happens to the organisms themselves.
