Thick Biofilm Organics

This mudpuddle is now about 6 weeks old. It was drawn from a lake in Manitoba. From the beginning it was dominated by bacteria. Everything is suspended in a sticky biofilm. You can still see traces of the original vegetation. Inside the biofilm, dominated by bacteria, there are circular forms that look like protists but they do not move.
