Bacteria Growth in New Biome

I added some vegetable scraps in the latest biome. After a day a coat of vegetable particles has spread over the water. The microscope shows the particles organizing into organic-looking formations. Very small organisms (probably bacteria--mostly rods) can be seen moving on the surface. They are very small and I could not get my high-powered objective to focus on it.
