A new biome is inevitably the purview of bacteria. These very small organisms originate in and on the grasses and bits of flotsam collecting around the surface of vegetation in frozen rain water. Here we see the bacteria at the start of a biome along with some small protists. In the first weeks. Not many larger organisms can be seen.
