I sampled stems of two kinds of grass in the lawn. First a softer green stem (but still fairly hard) and second a thicker stem. It was an interesting range of cell structures. The softer stem consisted of simpler cell structures, the harder grasses had a broader range of cell types. The latter seemed to be more specialized and advanced.
