Complex Celery Stalk

I examined a small piece of celery stem and found
an amazing diversity of cells. I am reminded that
each cell is an individual, subject to both heredity
and environment. Complex living things (plants and
animals) are communities of units that, eons ago,
surrendered their individuality and became part of a complex.
