A Paleontological Side of Microscopy

I'm drawn to interesting forms under the microscope. I like to watch living organisms but I'm also interested in signs of life, shapes associated with living thigs that stand out from the random flotsam in a sample. It could be formerly living things, or it could be parts too regular and "designed" to be considered meaningless. It could be life in some kind of passing or waiting state, or it could be the outlines of organisms imbedded in the biofilm or on the surface of slowly dissolving plants.
