Along the Surface

A simple harmless and mildly decorative plant
sits in the corner of the living room.
A piece of it drops to the floor, severed
by the vacuum cleaner.
This time it was not my scissors that took it.
I did savor its visual joys, visiting the lovely
surfaces of the plant under the microscope.
It's like a pleasant afternoon stroll along village streets.
