This leaf had been decaying in river water for three weeks. Interestingly, no visible protists can be seen although bacteria can be seen. Most of the cells of the leaf itself are now free-floating, loosened from the disintegrated leaf itself. Other structures from the leaf can also be seen detached from the leaf strucure. It looks like free-floating cells from the leaf can be seen detached from the leaf structure but these could be from an external source too.
