Since I managed to clean my microscope objective and add some new puddle water from the lawn, things have progressed. There is a whole new population of organisms. The bacteria-size contingent is very active. They move so much I have the feeling they are tiny protists, not bacteria at all. Then there is a whole new generation of medium-sized organisms, some of which are in active motion and some are in a vegetative kind of stillness.
