The biofilm grows up. A sticky film begins to cover the inhabitants, small protists and some isolated larger paramecium-type protists. A consumption cycle repeats. Protists and bacteria increase until they reach a peak and the nutrition begins to thin. Then I add new nutrients and the population increases again.
