I was curious. Luckily I found a fresh rainwater puddle on the grass. I sampled the water, making sure that I took some small pieces of leaf that were soaking in the puddle. I was surprised that there was considerable active microscopic life in the puddle. The rainwater was very fresh and there was no biofilm to affect the movement of these organisms.
