I took a drop of water from a new mud puddle for the first time. Findings were sparse, but promising, perhaps. There were quite a few small familiar protists. I did see two larger creatures which didn't seem to move. I will wait to see what biology does over the next week or so. Note that I may have taken too much water in my sample on the slide because my cover glass kept pressing down on the water surface. We live and learn.
