I see ciliates zipping past me before I can get them in focus. I see some of them appearing to rest on pieces of vegetation. Perhaps they are feeding. Ciliates feed very mysteriously. You don't see them biting or chewing on nutrients. It's a quiet process of absorption through cell membranes. I see hundreds of tiny beings going about their incredibly small business, dancing through the water or shooting through the water like rockets.
