Although certain parts of the mudpuddle are like dead zones as far as our much desired large ciliates are concerned. if you control your light and depth of field you can find an abundance or smaller life forms like flagellates and bacteria. In certain places life is so abundant it looks like a soup, reminding one of the premordial seas where life was (according to some theories) cooked up.
