The asparagus is a unique vegetable. I was curious about it so I snitched an asparagus bud from the tip of a plant and road into it in my microscope. Some of the structures that make up the asparagus bud really are unique---bumpy cells for instance. The rules of vegetables still apply, however. The asparagus bud is a varied and beautiful place.
