I think the microscope fans who like to look at microbes largely search for the larger ones. We are like big game hunters. Most of what we actually see are the array for very small creatures--many times smaller than the protists we seek, but whose lives are equally interesting. These tiny creatures often vibrate when they move because they keep crashing into the water molecules. It's an issue of scale.
