I keep finding the vacant outlines of protists
in the biofilm that I take from my fresh water artificial puddle.
The biofilm incorporates the structures of organisms
that get trapped in it. Eventually, there are layers of the remains
which you can see by focusing deeper into the transparent film.
The biofilm is a burial ground.
