Honorable Mention I Didn’t Know Michael Julius Sottak About Joseph Strout, and later, Joshua, when I first went down to Portland Head. I didn't care. I was just seeking a temporary reprieve from my wife and mangled expectations. The Light at Portland head was a welcoming beacon. I walked the craggy bluffs and read about the sailors who had drowned; there was no way to escape that fury. Felt the surf rain down on my head after a sound rock-bashing from sixty feet below. Slate water churns to foam. I lie down on the rocks. A lady with an umbrella walks out to me in driving November rain. She's pretty. Concern twists her face: "Sir, are you alright?" She looks like an angel, I'm confused by the question. The rain changes to snow and the timpani of shore enchants... I look at her, confused, "sure, I'm fine, Mam... Why do you ask?"
