Honorable Mention The End Result M. Kathryn Black When they found her she had barbed wire bound around her tongue. Her stomach had turned into a bowl-- empty, and her nipples were like a man's. Two soldiers dressed in black stood guard; it was hard to see them, for they were already beginning to fade. As they went, so did her life. The drumming stopped. The undertaker said, "She lost all her blood, but I can pump her up." In death she gained all the weight she lost, but at the wake her baby cried, crawled into her coffin and fell asleep. |
