Honorable Mention Fibs on the Wing Gary Blankenship Gray, green and brown – today’s tones, barren as the words that limp carelessly from your lips, words false as the red of roses in my dead garden. I try to listen to your lame, easy excuses, but my attention drifts away to the cry of flies caught frozen beside dead wasps. A bee drifts round dusty drapes, confused by the warmth of paper poppies, more likely to find its way than I am to escape your deceit.
