Honorable Mention Geode Vienna I gather these things about me after your leavings; after stars re-crystallise and find their rightful place in the huge vault of the sky. It is not yet spring but birds clamour at dawn, see me shift under quilt, feel for you and the spaces you should occupy. We are Moet-fizzy moments, shaking out words from medicine bags cut from fawns. We fashion continents, bays, landscapes, dance under our own weather. Silences are owned by lovers. Listen, there is only breathing and the constant turn of the earth. I take threads from you, Plait, re-plait constantly, Fingers deft and bleeding from the fruitless untying of knots. Love like this is a geode, ancient. Countless refractions of crystals; glittery gorgeous points of light. Stone, emptiness at the heart. I would set your chalcedony eyes in a silver ring, see how you shone with every twist of my finger. Slip off my treasure each night to lay you beneath my pillow, have you seep into my dreams.
