Honorable Mention Longing, at midnight Mira I miss the way you drove the growling Lovemobile and we always lost our way, in talk of nihilism from amodernist perspectives, and the birth of brave new gods, and why you had no feeling in your feet. Spinning circles in the night, we covered every topic but where to hang a right. I miss the way strands of your unruly hair tangled on our tongues as we kissed; and the bristles of your chin nipped and tantalized my skin when we made love. I miss the way you railed against technology, but sent impassioned odes to me by email, and encoded all your friends for quick accessibility, upon your cell. I miss the stubborn twist to your half-shy smile as you played roulette with life, Russian style. You crashed in Montreal; and I stroked your shaking hand as, like a haggard phoenix, you struggled slowly back with sips of minestrone and a shot of insulin, as sidelong glances said, 'that guy's some kind of junkie'; and my palms cried sweat; and later, snuggled in your warmth, I said, "don't die -- I haven't finished ravishing you yet." How like you not to listen or did you just forget?
