Mature Biofilm

The number and variety of organisms in the biofilm have increased. Many of the organisms move only slowly in the dense biofilm medium. The protists cover a wide range of sizes and types. The surface of the water is now foamy and bubbly. The forms of many of the organisms have dissolved in the medium.
