Microland Grows in Stages

Examining my mudpuddle I begin to think that it has reached a kind of climax point. The leaves I put in the water to enrich the sample are decaying quickly. The larger organisms like rotifers are slowly disappearing which happens when the mudpuddle reaches a lower nutrition stage. The mean protist size has declined as did the level of activity among the protists. I am looking to refresh the sample.
