Because they are living things we wonder about their experience. Many people think they have no experience. Are they just little droplets of chemistry with peculiar qualities or do they have some kind of experience? How can we tall? We can't. They do eat each other but they usually eat the food set out before them--smaller even molecule-sized bits of living matter, There is nearly always something smaller. There are many basic questions here.
