The Skeleton of a Leaf

Postby Don Schaeffer » Sun Feb 04, 2024 8:43 am

I examined a dried dead leaf from the garden. The leaf appears to have analogs to skin and bone which can both be viewed in the corpse. The skin reverts to a fiber-like net distributed over a frame that looks like its bones. I don't know if there are actual holes in the leaf--but it looks transparent. The top and bottom of the leaf skeleton are slightly different, but both top and bottom can be seen through the transparent structure.
