Microbes in the Work of Destruction

Postby Don Schaeffer » Thu Feb 01, 2024 10:27 am

I took a sample of a decomposing leaf in my stagnant water pool. You can see microbes moving among the decomposing cell structure of the leaf. The process of deconstruction is hard to see but you can get a feeling of the continuous biochemical process. As far as I know, microorganisms consume any organic molecules, "vegetable" and "animal." I wasn't certain about that but that's how it appears.
