OK Cells in a Dead Stem

Postby Don Schaeffer » Mon Jan 29, 2024 10:13 am

A small twig of a tree in the back yard was lying on the ground. Half of the branch looked like it was almost completely dried. However, when I started to dissect the branch the whole length of the specimen was still soft. The outside appearance of the branch belied the actual condition of the tissue. When I examined the branch with the microscope the cells over the entire surface appeared to be essentially well formed or only very slightly disfigured. The color did not correlate with the condition of the tissue.
