Contributors to Biofilm

The surface of the water was a lift-able biofilm packed with protists living on consumed vegetation. (I define a biofilm as the condition of the water sample when I can lift the surface with a .3 mm metal loop).

The density of organisms will reach a peak and the decline over the next week or two after the nutrients in the water are consumed. It's interesting that there is very narrow range of species here. It's almost like a family.
