Strange Unmoving Organic Things

The mudpuddle is producing a mysterious anomaly--entities that look like protists but don't move. These are distributed through the culture loaded with bacteria. I allowed air to circulate on the culture for a few days and the density of the biome increased but I can't see any motion.
