Rubber tree leaves eventually begin to dry out on the branch. The dead cells lose their structure. The death of the cells is more easily visible on one side of the leaf than the other. What's clear is the increasing disorder and the loss of the breathing openings. Compare the dead with the living cells on the top and bottom of the leaf.
