Starting a New Biome From Fall Leaves

Two days ago I dropped some leaves from a tree on the lawn into some rain water. Under the microscope I could see how round structures (presumably from the leaves) have begun to accumulate. There are many very small bacteria (mostly rods) moving around. There are some very small protists, some with limited motion. This is a work in progress.
