Ciliates Return to the Biofilm

For several days, the mudpuddle had been virtually taken over by a thick biofilm consisting almost entirely of bacteria. Now ciliates are returning in some numbers. The transition is slow but steady: the aggressive protists proceed to feast on the biofilm.
