Fluid Stuffed Leaf

Postby Don Schaeffer » Sat Aug 05, 2023 9:05 am

The cells of rubber plant type leaves are filled with oily fluid. The cells of this plant are like tiny tanks whose fluid oozes out when they are even lightly compressed. The cells are easily compressed as the plant grows, and appear not to retain their shapes as they expand inside. The leaf itself has a rigid skin which compresses the cells to fit neatly inside the leaf.
