Coming home from a shopping trip I saw a family of mushrooms surrounding some badly set sod. I'd swear this colony popped up within a few hours. I took one and threw it into my shopping cart, planning an expedition. Mushrooms belong to the kingdom a fungus and as such share some characteristics with animals. Their cell walls are made of the same substance as insect shells. Their structures are smooth and the cells are tightly joined together. Mushrooms are mysterious and fascinating living things.
