I happened to find a complete leaf system in the sink ready to be thrown out. I stole it from the garbage just to see something. Looking at this one leaf structure I found considerable diversity among the parts. It appeared that no two views among the images I took were alike, or even really that similar. Even in a garden plant, pieces that appear to serve the same function in the plant display individual adaptations to location. Diversity is everywhere written into structure.
