The original mudpuddle had entered a late stage as the variety of organisms declined and the water medium was thickening. I added some new grass to the mudpuddle catching it just as freezing temperatures took over here in Winnipeg. Since that change, novel varieties of larger protists appeared, joining the stable varieties.
