I was waiting for
this to happen. After a week or so a colony of protists is beginning to shape up. At least some animated entities that look like medium-sized protists have begun to appear among the bacteria in the mudpuddle. This colony was unusually slow to mature. I think it's because the leaves I was using to start the culture were resistant to being broken down.
