Hi. I'd like to ask if anyone has had positive experiences with publishers for your chapbook, or poetry collection, and this can be either self-publish, or perhaps you entered through a submission process and were accepted that way. What I'm wanting to do is about 36-40 poems, chapbook style. Thanks in advance. (Message edited by borska on February 28, 2010) |

Hi, Borska -- it's really difficult to give recommendations on specific presses. What presses you approach will (or should) have everything to do with what style of poetry you write and whether (or not) that particular press responds to your type of work. In other words, a press that is very successful for one poet could be completely wrong for another. Presses have a sort of individual "feel" based on who runs them and what type of poetry they lean toward. That's a characteristic they share in common with journals, magazines, etc. You'll find a lot of information about publishing, presses, etc. in NATUROPATHY, our Library forum here at Wild: Publishing Tips And here's a link to the thread that discusses small presses in specific: A List of Small Presses that Publish Poetry There are many presses listed there, along with other important info. That should get you started on investigating presses that might be right for you. Much good luck to you! Best, M |

M, thanks. That is a big help! My main goal is really preserving what I write. I worked with a publishing company a few years ago and did a very small chapbook but I wanted to see what else was available. Those links will be very useful. |
