Dear Poetry Aficionados, IBPC: Poetry & Poets in Rags Late this week, two top stories developed in the poetry community. Unfortunately, one you'll find in Poetic Obituaries, as Deborah Digges has died in a fall. Our other headliner tops the News at Eleven section, and has to do with people at Amazon.com de-listing and de-ranking Gay and Lesbian books, then telling the authors of these books that they were listed as "adult" now. After this raised protests, Amazon.com's explanation comes across as a "likely story" and blames reporters for misreporting that Amazon.com's action was "limited to Gay & Lesbian themed titles," noting that other book categories were also recategorized as adult. Can you blame a company about to lose millions of customers, suddenly finding themselves in the process of losing a fortune? After the storm of protests, e-mails, and boycotts, brought "embarrassment" (as they wrote), what else could they do but issue a story about a computer glitch made in Europe that turned into a "cataloguing error." We have much more poetry news, reviews, poems, and from all over the world. Thanks for surfing by.
