http://cleavepoetry.wordpress.com/what-is-cleave-poetry/ A poem split down the middle, where both columns form a poem and there is another poem reading across the columns. Possibly not easy to write using the best 'poetic' ideas, but may be fun to try. The September poem of the month I rather liked. |

Mariah, glad it provided inspiration! So far I like this one best: http://cleavepoetry.wordpress.com/2008/09/22/cleave-poem-by-phuoc-tan-diep/ but looking at the poems generally, I think folks here could do better... |

Thanks for bringing the link to Wild, Ros. I've read a few of these "cleave" poems, though I don't think they were called that. Not easy to do. It takes a good deal of juggling to make sure the poem hangs together in all directions. I've always wanted to try one, but don't think I could make it all work very well. But the link has inspired me to keep on trying. Hey, Freddie -- I just noticed something when I looked at the post you edited. Did you realize your member name reads as sandi-ego-poet? What exactly is a sandi-ego? Do you get that from hanging out on the beach too long? *LOL* Love, M |

True story. I'll swear this on a stack of Bibles from here to Alpha Centauri. Years ago, I saw a car owned by a college guy where a "San Diego State University" window decal had been scissored up and pasted on the rear window. It read -- SANDI EGO STATE UNIVERSITY I assumed at the time that this was a "put down" targeting some (presumably) stuck-up lady who had "done him wrong." But now I know it was a chic Italian woman masquerading as a guy. Derf even consciousness, a pastiche of recycled cans
