Hi everybody, I have a question. Where can I find lists of poetry journals on the Web to submit to? I'm asking because I use Poet's Market, but they don't list every journal out there. Also, what print sources offer lists of poetry journals to submit to besides Poet's Market? Thanks again. Alicia |

On the web: http://www.duotrope.com/ http://www.newpages.com/ http://www.fglaysher.com/LitLinks.htm In print: http://www.dustbooks.com/d.htm http://www.clmp.org/about/dir.html I want either less corruption, or more chance to participate in it. ~Ashleigh Brilliant

Thanks. I'll definitely look these up and bookmark them for future reference. By the way, how many of these lists list journals for beginning poets? I'm asking because I'm pretty much a beginning poet; I've been published in four journals. Anyway, thanks. Alicia |

Hi, Alicia. Welcome to Wild. The online lists that Will offered don't really indicate whether beginners are welcome or segment according to level like Poet's Market does. But most mags are open to anyone. As for determining which might be easier hurdles to clear, Duotrope, for instance, lists acceptance rates. If the acceptance rate is high, something like 64%, for instance, then it might be easier to get in. If the acceptance rate is low, 5%, a beginner is normally going to have more difficulty. The acceptance rate theory is not always flawless (some beginners are accepted no matter how low the acceptance rate), but it's something to consider. Hope this helps. Best, M |

Hi M, Thanks. I did look up the acceptance rate at Duotrope, but never got to look more deeply at the listings because I was bookmarking the resources Will provided. But I'll do it again when I have more time. Alicia |
